Delete your Ouranoos account
You can delete your Ouranoos account and its data at any time. This page explains how, exactly what gets deleted, and what is kept.
App: Ouranoos Cloud (com.empoorio.ouranoos)
Option 1 — from inside the app
- Open Ouranoos and sign in.
- Go to Settings (Ajustes).
- Under Account, tap Delete account (Eliminar cuenta).
- Confirm. The deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.
Option 2 — by request, without installing the app
Send an email to contact@empoorio.org from the address associated with your account, with the subject "Delete my Ouranoos account".
We will verify that the request comes from the account owner and complete the deletion within 30 days. We will email you when it is done.
What gets deleted
- Your account record and login credentials on our servers.
- Your profile data: name, email address and profile picture.
- Your storage contracts, file manifests and stored encrypted chunks.
- Your encryption keys, which are removed from your device.
Deleting your keys is irreversible
Ouranoos encrypts your files on your device, and the key never leaves it. Once the key is destroyed, any file you had uploaded becomes permanently unreadable — by you, by us, and by anyone else. There is no recovery procedure, because there is no copy of the key anywhere. Download anything you want to keep before deleting your account.
What is kept, and for how long
- Blockchain records. Storage contracts, proofs and payments are recorded on EmpoorioChain, a public ledger. Those entries cannot be erased by anyone, including us — that is a property of the ledger, not a choice. They contain contract identifiers, provider addresses and amounts. They do not contain your name, your email address or the content of your files.
- Billing and tax records, where a law requires us to keep them, for the period that law demands. They are not used for any other purpose.
- Server logs (IP address, timestamp, requested URL) for up to 90 days, after which they are deleted on a rolling basis.
